Raphaël Horrach is a French trumpeter recognized as one of the most promising musicians of his generation, distinguished by major international competition successes. In 2025, he was awarded Third Prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, one of the most prestigious competitions in the world. He has also won First Prize at the Roger Voisin Competition (Miami, 2022), the Théo Charlier Competition (Belgium, 2024), and the Città di Porcia International Competition (Italy, 2024), as well as Second Prize at the International Trumpet Guild Competition (Los Angeles, 2024). He was also a laureate of the Maurice André International Trumpet Competition in Paris (2022).

As a soloist, Raphaël has appeared with orchestras including the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Münchner Rundfunkorchester, Münchener Kammerorchester, Orchestre National de Cannes, Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine, Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Torino, Friuli Venezia Giulia Orchestra, Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Trieste Opera. He has collaborated with conductors including Benjamin Lévy, Chloé Dufresne, Sasha Scolnik-Brower, Leonardo García-Alarcón, and Ulysse Derrien.

Deeply engaged with contemporary music, Raphaël is particularly passionate about expanding the trumpet repertoire and actively seeks to collaborate with composers to bring new works to life. Following the path of his mentor Håkan Hardenberger, he aims to contribute to the development of the instrument by encouraging the creation of new pieces. He has a strong passion for recitals, valuing the intimacy and direct connection with audiences. In 2023 and 2024, he was selected for the “Un Été en France” tour led by Gautier Capuçon. He also performed at major festivals, including the Festival Radio France Montpellier Occitanie (closing recital, “Jeunes solistes,” July 2023) and the Festival Jeunes Talents (solo recital, July 2024).

His upcoming projects highlight both his commitment to contemporary music and his international activity. They include the French premiere of Stages (2022) by Alissa Firsova and performances of Ligeti’s Ten Pieces for Wind Quintet with Ensemble Atmosphères at the Salle Cortot (April 24), the world premiere of Photo d’un enfant avec une trompette by Eric Tanguy and Michel Blanc at the Philharmonie de Paris (May 19) and going on a french tour to perform with organist Vincent Warnier. He will also give a recital at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Rochester (New York), and tour Japan from November 10 to 24, including recitals at the Yamaha Ginza and Blue Rose Hall at Suntory.

Born in Ajaccio, Raphaël studied at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon with Clément Saunier. He is a Yamaha artist, reflecting his commitment to the highest standards of performance and musical excellence.
